Suspicious Stalker in Creepy Overcoat Is Arrested

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, an open window gives residents a scare, a man steals from a rooftop, and a worried caller reports a physical brawl.

At 8:12 a.m. Thursday Jan. 16, someone reported a suspicious person near the cross streets of Avenida Talega and Avenida Vista Hermosa. A man in a green overcoat was walking by a local school and staring at the children. Deputies arrived and arrested the 42-year-old man, who is currently in custody with no bail amount posted.

At 2:10 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 15, a worried caller reported a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Paseo De Cristobal. The caller’s wife said she heard someone inside the house. Upon further inspection, the burglar was just an open window the wind had blown open.

At 1:51 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 15, deputies received a call about a suspicious person in the 2600 block of Calle Del Comercio. A man was walking on the roof of a closed market and taking unknown objects from the top of the building.

At 11:40 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 15, a caller reported a disturbance in the 100 block of Avenida Algodon. The caller said two men were in a physical fight on the porch of a local home. Before deputies arrived, the fight subsided.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.
