Taxi Passenger Refuses to Pay, then Pays Big

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a drunken driver is arrested after crawling around, a caller reports illegal drug use, and unknown thieves take nothing, but leave destruction in their wake.

At 1:56 a.m. Saturday Jan. 11, deputies received a call about a stubborn taxi patron in the 1600 block of El Camino Real. The passenger of a taxicab was refusing to pay the fare. Deputies arrived and arrested a 43-year-old woman, who has since been released from jail.

Also:

At 2:29 p.m. Saturday Jan. 11, a caller reported a drunken driver near the cross streets of South El Camino Real and Avenida Victoria. A 59-year-old man stumbled out of his vehicle and rolled away, then crawled back into his car. Deputies arrived and arrested the man, who has since been released from jail.

At 9:13 a.m. Sunday Jan. 12, someone reported a disturbance in the 3800 block of Vista Blanca. Two men were smoking illegal drugs on a hill above railroad tracks, the caller said.

At 9:05 a.m. Sunday Jan. 12, a caller told deputies about a vandalism in the 1800 block of El Camino Real. The caller claimed an unoccupied home was broken into. The thieves allegedly stole nothing, however vandalized the house.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.
