An investigation was under way Tuesday into the death of a woman who was struck by a freight train in San Clemente.
The woman was hit around 10:45 p.m. Monday in the area of Senda de la Playa and Avenida Estacion, said Lt. Gary Strachan of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Metrolink's OC Line Train 644 was stopped at Laguna Niguel as a result of the crash, and its passengers were bused to their destinations, Metrolink reported. Metrolink did not immediately report anticipated service delays as a result of the incident.
