Feds Search for OC Woman who Disappeared in Panama

Yvonne Baldelli disappeared from a sparsely populated island off the coast of Panama in November--she was last seen Thanksgiving weekend.

Federal authorities and the family are searching for a missing South Orange County woman after she disappeared from Panama in late November.

CBS reports her boyfriend is a person of interest in the case.

Yvonne Baldelli, 41, who disappeared with her dog, was last seen Nov. 26 on Isla Caranero, Bocas del Toro, Panama.

Family members contacted by Patch through a Facebook page set up to take tips and post photos about the case said last week they needed to prepare before releasing a statement to the press.

But they have urged people to call the tip line on the Facebook page with any information about Baldelli's disappearance, and they've encouraged Facebook users to write their senators and congressmen asking for support in finding Baldelli.

Tuesday, a Panamanian official said the FBI is investigating a person of interest in the case, Baldelli's boyfriend, Brian Brimager. The investigation will take place in the United States.

Isla Caranero sits at the mouth of a broad inlet along the eastern coast of the Panama isthmus, a few hundred miles north of Panama City and just south of the country's border with Costa Rica.

The island isn't remote, being almost swimming distance from mainland resorts, but it is home to only 450 people and has no roads, automobiles or sewage system, according to Fodor's travel guide publishers.
