NRC Head, Feinstein to Tour Troubled Nuclear Plant Friday

The chairman of Nuclear Regulatory Commission will visit the plant Friday.

The twin reactors at the nuclear power plant have been idled while investigators determine why tubing carrying radioactive water is eroding at an unusual rate. Gregory B. Jaczko, the chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, will visit the plant Friday to highlight the agency's concern over the ailing equipment.

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein will also tour the plant Friday. Jaczko will hold a press conference in Dana Point Friday afternoon.

Just last week, the agency confirmed in a March 27 letter to Southern California Edison that the until the cause of  is fully diagnosed and fixed.
