  • Edison is preparing to ship the lower sections of the original steam generators over land to Utah.
  • The sections are classified as having low-level radiation, meaning they meet U.S. Dept. of Transportation limits for safely transporting such materials over U.S. highways. SCE said it is taking a number of steps to ensure public safety along the transportation route.
  • For security reasons, SCE was not able to provide details of the route or shipping schedule. SCE expects the first of four shipments to occur this month and the last to occur later in the year. The route will go through San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, then through Nevada and eventually to Clive, Utah.
