Pro Surfer Gudauskas Bros. to Host T-Street Surf Open

The three famous San Clemente natives spoke before San Clemente City Council to ask permission to hold their September event.

The San Clemente City Council Tuesday granted permission to famous pro surfers and San Clemente natives the Gudauskas brothers to host a surf open in September at T-Street.

The three blonde siblings appeared before the council, teamed up with the Friends of Beaches, Parks and Recreation, to get a permit to host the contest, which will happen the day before the

Tanner Gudauskas told the council that he hoped to bring some of his pro surfer friends who would be in town for the Hurley event over to the T-Street open to meet the young surfers who they'll be courting to participate.

"The thing that we're really stoked on is giving back to the kids in town," he said.

Beaches, Parks and Recreation Director Sharyn Heider said the city doesn't usually license T-Street for events, but should make an exception in this case. The council readily agreed, voting unanimously in favor of permitting the event.

Pat Gudauskas said he was excited to hold the event at that venue. The brothers said they had already informally raised $10,000 for event costs.

"We grew up surfing T-street our whole lives, and we feel like its the epicenter of the surf community in San Clemente," Pat Gudauskas said.
