Put Down That Log: Another No-Burn Day Planned

New Year's Eve parties have to go fire-free, at least until it's officially 2014.

Wood-fired heating will be prohibited starting at midnight tonight in San Clemente, and lasting 24 hours into New Year’s Eve, because of high smog levels and stagnant air.

The “no burn day” order will be in effect in Los Angeles and Orange counties, and much of the Inland Empire, with a few exceptions, said officials at the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Persons who have wood as their sole source of heat, or those living above the 3,000-foot elevation, are exempt. Also exempt are persons with low income.
