Registrar Kicks One Council Candidate off the Ballot

The Orange County Registrar of Voters couldn't validate some of the signatures on Jim Cerrone's filing papers.

One of the seven men who filed for San Clemente City Council candidacy failed to qualify.

Jim Cerrone was aiming to fill one of two council seats up for grabs in November.

The following is the note San Clemente City Clerk Joanne Baade sent to the media and the other six council candidates:

All:

Jim Cerrone did not qualify for the ballot for the November 6, 2012 General Municipal Election.  The Registrar of Voters office checked all 26 signatures on his nomination paper, but validated only 19 signatures.  20 signatures are necessary to qualify for the ballot.

Consequently, only six names will appear on the November 6, 2012 ballot for the office of Member of the City Council.
