San Clemente Council Slated to Lay Off Building Department Worker

City officials say the elimination of the position will bring staffing to the right levels for less work.

The San Clemente City Council Tuesday is slated to vote whether or not to lay off a building department employee.

Mike Jorgensen, building department head, said there has been a big drop-off in the amount of work for his department over the last four years because of the sluggish economy.

"The elimination of a position was in response to getting our staffing to an appropriate level," Jorgensen said.
