San Clemente Moves Quiet Zone Forward

The San Clemente City Council is set to purchase insurance for its efforts to quiet train whistles.

If the city aims to silence train whistles at rail crossings through town, it needs insurance.

That's why the San Clemente City Council Tuesday will decide whether to purchase a $31,000 insurance policy to indemnify the city in case of an accident, according to the meeting agenda.

San Clemente established a quiet zone at the rail crossings at North Beach  last year, and hopes to establish the San Clemente Pier rail crossing as a quiet zone by April of this year.
