SC/San Juan Trail Connection to Close for Water Project

The Forster Ridgeline trail connection to the San Juan Trail System will be cut for 60 days starting near the beginning of June.

The following is an announcement from the city of San Clemente:

The connection between the San Clemente Forster Ridgeline Trail and the San Juan Capistrano trail system will close temporarily for approximately 60 days while the County of Orange completes a water line project within the landfill area.

The entry to the San Juan Capistrano Trail system off the end of Camino De Los Mares will be closed for approximately one to two weeks. Although the Forster Ridgeline Trail will remain open on the San Clemente side of the fence, trail users will not be able to go north or south through these two connection points.

Construction will begin in a couple of weeks. During this construction, there will be no connection to the San Juan Capistrano trails from San Clemente’s Forster Ridgeline Trail.

Additionally, access from the end of Camino De Los Mares will be limited. Fencing and trail closure signage will be installed at the trail entrance points and other areas of the trail system.

It is important that the public respects the trail closure during this time. The duration of the project may be shorter or longer depending on unforeseen conditions.

Once the area is cleared by the County of Orange, its staff will make an effort to reopen San Clemente’s Forster Ridgeline Trail and the trail portion in San Juan Capistrano.
