Sports Park Opening Date Pushed Back

The massive $33-million Vista Hermosa Sports Park and Aquatics Center's debut is delayed because of problems finishing the pool and fields.

Though it was slated for grand opening festivities Jan. 28, the new $33-million Vista Hermosa sports park across from Target will open a little later.

City officials told the Orange County Register that the date would be pushed back because of difficulties finishing up work on the Olympic-sized pool facility and delays in grass maturing on the ball fields.

Beaches, Parks and Recreation Director Sharon Heider told the city council last week that contractors were having trouble finding gate hardware for the swimming pool that satisfies Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
