Two Trails Close Tuesday for Waterline Work

Trail connections between San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente will shut down for as long as two months; Forester Ridgeline reopens after a week.

A contractor with Orange County will close the San Juan Capistrano and Forester Ridgeline trails starting Tuesday to work on a waterline.

The San Juan trail, with an entrance at Camino de los Mares, will be closed for only a week, but the Forster Ranch trail could be closed as long as two months, according to a release from the city.

This construction was set to begin in late May but was postponed. Once work is complete at the Camino De Los Mares trail entrance, workers will reopen the trail (point A to B on the attached PDF map). The Forster Ranch Ridgeline Trail will remain closed from point A to point C until work is complete through that section, the release states.

During the construction work, there will be no connection to the San Juan Capistrano trails from San Clemente’s Forster Ridgeline Trail. Additionally, access from the end of Camino De Los Mares will be limited. The contractor will install construction fencing and trail closure signage at the trail entrance points and other areas of the trail system.
