There's nothing quite like the sweet taste of a warm, freshly glazed doughnut. For that matter, there's nothing quite like the smell of fresh-baked bread or the taste of sweet filling in a danish.
That's why, in the same vein as , San Clemente Patch is holding a contest to find the best bakery in town.
Many of our counterpart Patch sites in Orange County are holding contests for the best cupcake, but it seems the cupcake fad that's swept the nation has missed San Clemente.
But we've still got plenty of good, old-fashioned pastry-and-coffee shops. A cupcake contest would hardly be appropriate here in this south Orange County doughnut mecca.
