Students were excited and teachers were moved to tears at last year’s annual teacher appreciation luncheon sponsored by the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahai’s of San Clemente.  Each teacher received a moment in the spotlight as students expressed love for their teachers and explained how influential they had been.  The honorees received gifts and were treated to a luncheon, entertainment, and a keynote address by Dr. Teresa Langness, founder of Full-Circle Learning.

With recent school budget cuts, the importance of recognizing our teachers might now be greater than ever.  According to local teacher Trav Williams, the Baha’i teachings state, “The education and training of children is among the most meritorious acts of humankind.”  Appropriately, the 14th annual teacher appreciation event’s theme will be “The Role of Teachers in Uplifting Mankind.”

This year’s keynote speaker is local public school teacher Alex Gottdank.  While the focus is on teachers, the event is open to the public free of charge and will be held on May 19th at the San Clemente Baha’i Center, 3316 Avenida Del Presidente.  Doors open at 10:30am; the program starts at 11:00am.  For more information, contact Trav Williams at 949-466-3967.
