San Clemente High Homecoming Parade Takes Over Del Mar

Disney characters frolic amid classic cars and firetrucks.

San Clemente High School's homecoming parade took Avenida Del Mar by storm Friday. Triton spirit was high as hundreds of high school students and parents trailed classic cars, firetrucks and luxury vehicles carrying the homecoming court and class floats along the boulevard.

“We are excited every athletic team is coming down,” said resident Shanna Perry. “I have a football player and a cheerleader and we have a big game tonight against Dana Hills, so it should be really good since we remain undefeated.”

Jedis, pirates, mermaids and all things Disney were seen joyfully skipping up and down Avenida Cabrillo before the parade commenced. Parents snapped pictures while police and fire officials stood by with smiles.

The senior class decked out its float in Fantasyland fashion with costumes ranging from Ariel, The Little Mermaid, to Tweedledee and Tweedledum from Alice in Wonderland.

The junior class float sported an Adventureland theme. The float was covered with palm leaves, treasure chests to match the pirate costumes.
