BIKE BLOG: 127 Kids, Principal Cycle to Concordia Elementary

A+ on the Star Test: Principal Dave Gerhard pedaled his new bike with Concordia's kids for National Bike to School Day.

May 8 was National Bike to School Day and San Clemente's Concordia Elementary pushed the pedals over hill and dale to hit the books in style!

Walk-n-Roll Wednesdays founding Mom extraordinaire, Ellie Hammargren, got everyone motivated and designated a rendezvous point to start.

Following the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route, student bicyclists became a peloton of pedal pushers, the Tour de France via San Clemente.

Moms and Dads escorted the enormous group that sometimes stretched for blocks along South Ola Vista, helmeted heads bobbing above books and backpacks.

Bikes came in all sizes and shapes: choppers and stingrays, mountain and road, smooth and knobby, pink and blue and black and yellow. It didn't matter what you rode today, just that you RODE.

Everyone arrived at school safe, sound, bright-eyed, and packed with energy to learn the three R's.
