FRIDAY SURF REPORT: A Little More Energy

A little more energy out there!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report.

Well we're seeing a little more surf out there. But I wouldn't call in sick or be cutting class. Basically, it's still on the small side, with a few playful-size waves to be found.

It's clean and glassy early on, with a combination of some small to decent west-northwest swell, a little northwest energy and minor dose of southwesterly swell in the background.

That's offering some kinda soft sectiony lines, with a few steep shoulders to snag.  Most San Clemente spots are hanging in the knee- to waist-high range, with the top breaks pulling stomach-high waves, with a few chest-high sets.

Checking those tides: At 10:50 later this morning it drops to a 1.1 low and then doesn't push back up to a 4.6 high until 3:34 early Saturday morning. So, basically your not going to see much change and many spots will be lacking water throughout the day.

If you're planning on paddling, get out at least a 3/2 fullsuit or the 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temp hanging between 56 and 57 degrees.

See ya in the water!
