PHOTOS: Game Day in San Clemente

Both were teams loved and despised equally.

Although the Green Bay Packers were heavily favored among some San Clemente's residents, Pittsburgh Steelers fans were also out in force.

With an electrifying comeback from the Steelers in the second half of the game, just coming short by a few points of the Packers, fans of both teams had a great time.

But Packers fans now have bragging rights for a year.

At Mulligan's Sports Bunker, the crowd was split pretty evenly between Green Bay and Pittsburgh. As Amanda Gorhem, the bartender, passed out beers and mixed cocktails for both sides, the fans showed their pride.

"Our plan was to come here," said Vicky Smith. "I hate the Steelers, so I'm going with the Packers."

"I'm here with Vicky, and I'm cheering on the Steelers," said Josh Galavin. "Plus, Amanda makes awesome drinks."

As Christina Aguilera sang The Star Spangled Banner (and missed a few words) there was a sense of awkwardness throughout the crowd.

"What the ..." a few fans mumbled throughout the bar.

At 3:44 in the first quarter, the crowd in the bar roared when Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers fired a pass to Jordy Nelson, scoring the first touchdown of the game.

"Hear that Philly boy," one of pool players shouted across the room to a Steelers fan.

Even the notorious Super Bowl commercials had lots of attention from the crowd as they laughed hysterically at the Doritos and Pepsi Max commercials.

Next up: the fans of Sun Dried Tomato in Talega.

With the entire bar glued to the LCDs that were fixed atop the drink shelves, the fans watched with intensity, ready for some drama of the ensuing game.

"I'm for the Packers," said Tom Foster. "The fullback is from my town, so I cheer for 'em."

His date, Stephanie Peerson,  on the other hand, cheered for someone else.

"I want the Steelers to win," she said.

As the game continued and the Steelers caught up to the Packers, more fans walked in, some dressed in the colors of their teams.

"I never pair yellow and black together. This isn't an accident," said Julie Calhoun. "I don't like the Steelers, but I hate the Packers more."

Her two friends, Aimee Perkowski and Shani Cochrun, also commented:

"I'm here for the fun," said Perkowski. "But I'm cheering for the Steelers because I was conceived in Pittsburgh."

Cochrun had the other team in mind.

"My friend hates Pittsburgh," she said. "That's why I'm rooting for the Packers."
