SURF REPORT: Another Dose of Swell, But Storm on the Way

Could be a hit-or-miss day on the water.

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report.

Well, it looks like it could be hit or miss. Yep because of another storm expected at some point during the day, don't be surprised if things take a turn for the worse at anytime!

The conditions are mostly clean early on, with a combination of some new energy out there.  We've got some building west northwest swell and some smaller south southwesterly energy in the water.

That recipe is providing some pretty fast, broken-up lines, with some nice steep shoulders to pick off. Most spots in San Clemente are seeing waist- to shoulder-high waves, with the standout combo breaks pulling a few plus sets.

At 8:11 this morning the tide drains out to a negative o.1 low which will have many spots in need of water mid-morning. The tide then climbs back up to a 3.1 high at 2:48 this afternoon.

If you're planning on paddling, break out no less than a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.

See ya in the water.

FYI: The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
