SURF REPORT: Grab a Session if You Like the Small Stuff

Break out any board today.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf  report.

Well, if  you like the smaller stuff, then you might want to grab a quick session, but I wouldn't be too bummed out if you can't get in the water.

It's mostly clean and glassy from the start, with a combination of continued fading energy. We're seeing some leftover west northwest swell and some pretty minor south southwest energy in the mix.

That recipe is making for some fast and pretty peaky lines, with some fun, wedgy corners. Most spots in San Clemente are running about knee- to stomach-high, with the top combo breaks pulling some chest-high sets.

At 7:00 this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.5 low which will have many spots lacking water early to mid-morning. The tide then pushes back up to a 3.5 high at 1:18 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, then you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI: County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the possibility of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
