SURF REPORT: Look for a Good Window This Afternoon

Look for a fun window mid-day!

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report.

Well, it looks like there could be a fun window once that tide does its thing. We're seeing a decent dose of energy, but many spots are starting off pretty slow and inconsistent due the early morning high tide.

We've got some nice and glassy conditions, with a mix of mostly south southwesterly energy and some smaller residual west northwest swell in the water. That's giving us some soft and fairly broken-up lines, with a few fast shoulders to snag.

Most spots in San Clemente are running about knee- to chest-high, with thost top south-facing breaks pulling a few bigger sets.

At 6:16 this morning the tide pushed up to a 5.3 high which will have many spots pretty swamped.  The tide then drains out to a negative 0.5 low at 1:19 this afternoon.

If you're planning on paddling, throw on at least the 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.

FYI: County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the water after a rain for at least 72 hours, especially near river mouths, harbor entrances and storm drains.
