Tough Day All Around for O.C.'s Wrestling Teams at Dual Meet Championships

Laguna Hils, the South Coast League and defending Division 1 champion, reaches semifinals, advancing farther than any other South Orange County team.

San Clemente High's wrestling team defeated Sultana, 44-28, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Dual Meet championships, but the Tritons fell to top-seeded Temecula Valley, 35-20, in the quarterfinals Saturday at Villa Park High.

Third-seeded Laguna Hills, champion of the South Coast League and defending Division 1 champion, lost in the semifinals to second-seeded Oak Hills, 33-30. Temecula Valley beat Oak Hills, 29-22, to win the division championship.

The Hawks defeated Murrieta Valley, 49-20, in the first round and beat Corona Santiago, 43-27, in the quarterfinals.

In the Divison 5 championships at Western High in Anaheim, Tesoro fell to fourth-seeded West Torrance, 51-15, and Dana Hills lost to Western, 46-21, both in the first round. Second-seeded Bloomington beat top seeded Valencia of Placentia, 41-16, in the final.
