Tuesday Surf Report

Decreasing energy, with plenty of playful action.

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report.  Well, it's nothing real solid that's for sure, but there's still plenty of playful-size waves coming through.

It's starting off clean and glassy early on, with a combination of energy in the water.  We're seeing some dropping west-northwest swell, some residual southerly windswell and minor south southwest energy out there.

That recipe is making for some racy sectiony lines, which are a bit drained out and kinda dumpy early on, due to the low tide this morning.  Things should improve once that tide fills in later on.  Most spots in San Clemente are running about knee- to chest-high, with the top combo breaks pulling a few shoulder-high-plus sets.

At 6:00 this morning the tide dropped to a negative 0.7 low, which is going to have many spots really lacking water early on.  The tide then pushes back up to a 4.1 high at 12:11 this afternoon.

If you're planning on paddling, break out at least a 3/2 fullsuit or better yet a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI..Don't forget the County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to urban runoff, especially near storm drains, river mouths and harbor entrances.
