Campers, Beachgoers Drawn to SC for Weekend

People from all over California came to San Onofre's state beach to celebrate the Memorial Day weekend with sun, surf, and barbeque.

This sunny Memorial Day weekend found tourists and locals alike thronging to San Onofre’s beach and the nearby San Mateo campgrounds.

Campers at San Mateo brought sunscreen, bikes, and barbeque coals to ensure they could enjoy the entirety of the day outside. Beach visitors came likewise prepared with large picnic spreads and wide wooden umbrellas.

“We came as far as San Fransisco for some waves we could swim in,” said Kelley Archer of her and her family.  “We usually spend Memorial Day in Laguna Beach but we thought we’d try San Clemente this year.”
