I-5 Freeway Closure Delayed a Week Because of Weather
Expect the full closure and street blockage next weekend.
Remember that full closure we told you about coming this weekend at the I-5 Freeway and Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano? Hold that thought for another week.
Caltrans officials have decided to delay the closure until Dec. 14-15 because of an anticipated rainstorm Tuesday, according to a press release from the city.
So basically, everything we described for this weekend – full closures in both directions, with traffic exiting the 5 at Ortega and then getting right back on and street closures between Rancho Viejo Road and Del Obispo Street – is a go for next weekend.

The hours for the shutdown will be between 11:59 p.m. and 6 a.m. Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.
