'Broadway Bound' Will Help Support Senior Center

On opening night Wednesday, $1 from each senior ticket will go to benefit the San Clemente Senior Center.

San Clemente High School's production of Neil Simon's Broadway Bound opens Wednesday night, and $1 from every senior ticket sold with benefit the San Clemente Senior Center.

The play runs Wednesday through Saturday. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults. Each night, the box office opens at 6 p.m., doors open at 7 p.m. and the curtain opens at 7:30 p.m.

Broadway Bound is a semi-autobiographical play. It is the last chapter in Simon's Eugene trilogy, following Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues.

The play is set in the late 1940s in Brighton Beach, N.Y. Eugene Morris Jerome, and his older brother, Stanley, have started their careers as professional comedy writers. But when the brothers use their home life in Brighton Beach as inspiration for a radio comedy skit, the Jerome family may never be the same. While the brothers did find the success that ultimately launches their careers in New York City as television comedy writers, they also have to deal with the break up of their family.
