Free Turkey Makes Thanksgiving Special for Servers and Diners

About 75 volunteers served what was expected to be a crowd of more than 500 at the San Clemente Community Center on Wednesday night.

Wednesday night, along with about 75 volunteers allowed several hundred San Clemente area residents to go to bed with a full belly.

With some 50 turkeys, countless pies, desserts, potatoes and sides, the organization fed folks buffet-style at the San Clemente Community Center.

Individuals, families and charitable groups--like Knight's of Columbus--all pitched in to help in the kitchen and at the buffet tables.

Both servers and diners were all smiles.

FAM Director Mary Gray Perdue read a quote at the beginning of the meal that captured the spirit of the occasion.

"As one person, I may not change the world, but I can change the world of one person," she said.
