Internet Safety, a Week Without Cooking and a Colossal Carnival

What you need to know about the week ahead in San Clemente.

1. It’s good to share: Today starts Rideshare Week, a weeklong event during which the Orange County Transportation Authority tries to get you to work any way but driving solo. If you pledge to carpool, vanpool, ride the bus, cycle or walk, you have a chance to earn prizes from many Orange County businesses and restaurants. To make the pledge or learn more, go here.

2. We release you from cooking this week: It’s “dine-out” week at Vista Del Mar Middle School, which is hosting a fundraisers every night through Thursday at different restaurants in San Clemente. On tap tonight is Board & Brew (get it!), Tuesday is Baja Fresh, Wednesday’s restaurant is Z Pizza and Thursday closes out the week of no-cooking at Panera.

3. For all parents of fourth-eighth graders: Want to know how to keep your child safe in the internet age? FBI Special Agents Kris Robinson and Renee Green discuss keeping your children safe from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the multipurpose room at Vista Del Mar Middle School. The talk is open to parents from all over Capistrano Unified. Topics will include threats to your child’s safety through social networking, gaming and smart phones and tips on how to protect your child from online and real-life predators. Because of the nature of the subject matter, this night is for adults only.
