1. The gift that keeps on giving: Give a homeless dog or cat the greatest gift of all this holiday season --- the gift of a forever home. The San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter is discounting its adoption fees by $50 to help its furry friends find their special home. The promotional adoption fee applies to any dog or cat residing at the shelter for three months or longer.

Look for a special “red ornament” on suite and cage description cards to discover which animals are participating in the promotion. The promotion runs now through Jan. 5. The adoption fee is $75and the cat adoption fee is $50 for these animals.

For more information, please call the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter at (949) 492-1617. The shelter is located at 221 Avenida Fabricante in San Clemente.

2. Jingle Bell Rock (the Autism): The end-of-the-year Christmas celebration/concert for Rock the Autism is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at StillWater Spirits & Sounds. 24701 Del Prado, Dana Point.

3. While you’re thinking about what to give: The week before Christmas is a great time to donate food to needy local families. Consider a donation of food of funds to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. The organization distributes more than 18 million pounds of food annually through hundreds of community partners.

4. Music on tap, workweek edition: Iva Lee’s will have Will Heard with Gary Roach Wednesday and The Kalama Brothers on Thursday. Taryn Donath plays the Cellar Thursday.
