Mourning with San Clemente, Cheap Juice and More

It's a busy weekend in San Clemente.

1. Ready to shred? It’s not as fun as you’re thinking. The city of San Clemente is sponsoring a mobile document shredding event free of charge from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 390 Avenida Pico (the city yard near U-Haul).

Residents and business owners in San Clemente can bring their documents, including material that is sensitive or confidential in nature, and have these documents securely shredded on-site and properly disposed of. Paperclips and stapled documents are accepted. There are no limits on the quantity. Items not accepted at the event include newspapers, magazines, and soiled or wet paper.

2.  Bargain –basement Jamba Juice: On Saturday from  9 a.m. – noon, Jamba Juice will offer its 16-oz smoothies for only $1 in support of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.  For every $1 16-oz  smoothie purchased, Jamba will donate $1 toward the purchase of athletic equipment for local schools through its Team Up for a Healthy America initiative, the company’s unique corporate social responsibility program to help fight childhood obesity by keeping kids healthy and active. Limit one offer per person per visit. No coupon required.

3. Wanna whole lotta love? A female version of a Led Zeppelin tribute band will be performing 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the OC Tavern. Buy tickets for LADY ZEP here.

3. We mourn with you all: A memorial service for UCLA football player Nick Pasquale is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday at San Clemente Presbyterian Church. Pasquale died Sunday morning after being struck by a car as he walked home after a party.

5. Patriots Day, cont’d: This Sunday, September 15th, Iva Lee's will be hosting an American Heroes fundraiser, put together by American Heroes Tribute.  A three-course wine dinner, entertainment and a silent auction will take place with cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Christopher Starr. The event will be honoring fallen heroes, with a special tribute dedication to CMSgt Nick McCaskill, USAF. Seats still available. Visit americanheroestribute.org to purchase your tickets.
