How is it right to publish names along with the alleged crime? Wouldn't that be a "SecurityRead More Concern", as it states in the OCSD online arrest records... "Due to security concerns, we have discontinued posting detailed inmate information on this website. Information required to be disclosed under Government Code section 6254(f)(1) of the California Public Records..." Shouldn't the Rackauckas be in some kind of violation???

M, Yup. Crime is down but it's still a battle in my neighborhood. Reporting every little thing doesRead More seem to help.

Parents have a responsibility to supervise their children - that's part of the job. Growing up inRead More Southern California we always had the rule when the streetlights came on we had to be home or else. If we whined there was nothing to do we were assigned chores which we did for free. Re some comments: It is amazing that lazy adults allow children to set the rules.

Legally parents can be fined or jailed up to six months. Sounds like no consequences here forRead More breaking the curfew law.

it seems that these people, the way that they were fighting over the money, would have not calledRead More the police unless they knew about the reward money..... sad statement about society these days
Eric Bergstrom May 10, 2013 at 10:16 pm

Was the seal a male or female? Maybe it just needed to be escorted to the men's restroom. Adam, inRead More the future I hope that you will get photos of seals in the restrooms this could be a trend and we should be able to identify the offending seals. Also I think seals are protected and it is against the law to harrass them. So if this seal wants the bathroom, we have to give it to her, like the docks they have taken over in San Francisco. If the seal was a he, I guess that would be reasonable cause for his removal. So in the future, the sexing of seals will be necessary to determine whether they can be legally removed from the restrooms. The city council will need to determine along with the friends of the seal lions if the the offending seal will be led to the appropriate restroom. Also whether the offending seal will be fined if he poops on the sand instead of in the toilet. The dog beach haters should also be consulted as to the danger that this offending seal has placed the human population in, through the potential deposit of nasty little parasites in the sand or restroom. I see another 11pm meeting in the future, to come to the conclusion of what the necessary policy will be should this ever happen again.

It is not the breed, but the owner. Many people that want a pitbull are the last ones who should ownRead More one. They are a powerful breed and need the right type of owners. My dogs have been attacked. My little old guy was torn up. If I did not get in the fray, he would have been killed. The owner wanted the image the pitbull represents, but was a weak and pathetic individual and the dog did nothing to change that. I personally like all breeds and have worked with many powerful dogs at SC animal shelter. I own a bunch of little dogs because they are cute and cuddly. Also I do not need a big dog to validate I am a man. I honestly have no issues with breed banning, because we can not outlaw stupidity. Unless we severely punish the dog owners with long prison sentences and financially crippling fines, this will continue. Also we have a leash law for a reason, lets start fining these people.

Greed is an ugly emotion. Why not just pay the taxes ans still make a killing? One thing I don'tRead More understand is why he was convicted of drug trafficking. Aren't those facilities legal?

So the guy wants to get his jollies off. As long as it was consensual, do we need to spend moneyRead More on this? While we're on the topic, let's legalize prostitution and tax the hell out of it.

The convicted man, Pete Garcia, is my cousin. My father was the one that pushed for anRead More investigation. When he called my cousin and asked where the money had gone, Pete handed the phone to his wife and she cursed my father. My father is the baby of his family. He looks out for the last of his siblings. My father contacted Elder Abuse and the DA got involved. This whole thing just wants to make me cry.

GEE...only four years? Could the jurors spare that? They wipe out the old woman and leave herRead More unable to pay her assisted living for the rest of her life and they only get four years? They will get out earlier for good behavior or if the jails get too crowded. Can't people put themselves in the woman's shoes and throw the book at them? Unreal...

How does this story show that the dog was dangerous? If anything it shows how scared the dog was ofRead More the whole ordeal and only would go to the owner when approached in a familiar water craft...

Shouldn't the title of this article be something like...former teacher pleads not guilty... NowhereRead More in this article does it say he denies what he's accused of.

So, let me get this straight... They could face up to 10 years in prison when they are sentencedRead More Aug. 8th... but for the record, both defendants could be eligible for lesser terms because of a drug dependence. 'Your honor, the defendants have a drug dependency, therefore we seek a lesser prison term for the drug trafficking charges.' Wow, the judicial system... Yikes! According to the ctpost.com article, the priest, who's sentence isn't mentioned here is facing 11-14 years in jail. No mention of a lesser sentence for drug addiction for the priest though. Lucky for him, the prison system has plenty of drugs flowing through it, so he can get hooked on something and then appeal the ruling in light of a new addiction perhaps? What is going on here!

My heart goes out to the Warren family in their time of sorrow. I imagine there will be a lot ofRead More questions they will be asking themselves in the years and months to come as they work through the stages of their grief. I just know that this kind of pain never goes away - I have lost three family members to suicide by gun......there are no easy answers....you who are left behind must learn to live with the awful consequences of someone else's decision to leave this world with so many issues unadressed or unresolved......

Sadly,...no one noticed for about 7.5 hours. Ooh,... And a tool designed AS a weapon - it is andRead More always will be a weapon. It's not a flashlight or a FORK,... Or even a hammer or knife. A gun is a weapon,... Pointing it at a person or at a empty soda can doesn't change that. It is and will continue to be foremost a weapon. A gun is a weapon. If people truly had the motive just to brake clay discs or target practice,... They can get a gun that shoots bb's or bean bags,... If they laugh at the idea and insist on bullets,....well then,...they choose it as a weapon 1st and foremost,...WHICH IS FINE,... My goodness. That IS what a GUN is FOR. It is to destroy what you are shooting at,.....not to massage it,...or just knock it over,...it is to destroy the intended target. Now,... For the rest of us,.... Suicide is very very common amount young folks. I have always wondered if depressed gay kids who are bullied and beaten who commit suicide are unforgivable in their death according to the above mentioned church or if suicide by depression is more acceptable. Or if the suicide gay youths are deemed less in anyway over a clinically depressed - well loved by friends and family - suicide is more acceptable. Either way,...it is VERY tragic!
