Rachel Salas is a twenty-something Orange County native with a passion for writing. From the time she was in grade-school, she would write original stories and illustrate pictures on scrap paper to create her own books.

With a strong interest in exploration, she moved to New York City at age 19 in hopes of making a name for herself. The big city lights guided her interest towards the Entertainment Industry. Having grown up in a family of musicians, she was always fascinated by the entertainment world. She knew she loved writing and decided to infuse both interests together.

She continued her education back home in California and graduated from Cal State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, with an emphasis in Journalism.

Rachel served as a Staff Writer for Cal State University, Fullerton’s award-winning paper, Daily Titan. It was there that she fell in love with the Detour and Features sections, where she was able to write about bands, artists, musical reviews, restaurant openings, screen writers, community events, and personal profiles.

Her writing-style is inspired by human interaction, history, love, friendships, and exploration. Her favorite book/movie is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.

She enjoys traveling to new places which is always an adventure that typically brings about new experiences and life lessons. She has passions for Entertainment (media/tv/music), American (social) history (specifically from the 1800s-1950s), reading fun novels, meeting new people with interesting stories, and of course, writing.

This past year, she held the title of Chief Restaurant Editor for Southern California’s NiteGuide Magazine where she specialized in restaurants, nightlife and special venues. She is a blogger for San Clemente Patch, as well as other websites.
