CRIME REPORTS: Toilet Papering, Shooting BBs and Climbing Electrical Towers

Here are various reports pulled from the San Clemente Police Services dispatch log over the past few days.

At 3:37 a.m. Friday, a caller reported suspicious people in the 200 block of Calle De Los Alamos. The report said a resident could hear three females talking about drugs at the top of the Lost Winds beach trail. There was no report of an arrest. 

At 1:26 a.m. Friday, a caller reported a petty theft from the 200 block of Avenida Rosa. A woman’s purse was stolen from the Taka-O sushi restaurant and karaoke bar. This has been an ongoing issue in the restaurant's bar, the dispatch report stated. 

At 9:37 p.m. Thursday, a man was arrested in the 300 block of El Camino Real. The man was heavily intoxicated and police discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest and previous charges. The man was taken into custody with a bail amount set at $15,000.

At 9:28 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a traffic hazard near the cross streets of Avenida Talega and Calle Portofino. Someone had tied a rope from one tree to another tree and was crossing the street. There was no further report. 

At 2:49 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported people were trespassing near the Avenida Ossa and Rio Lindo intersection. Several minors were seen climbing an electrical tower.

At 8:21 p.m. Wednesday, a non-injury traffic accident was reported near the south El Camino Real and Avenida Presidio intersection. The accident involved a white Lincoln and a pickup truck. The informant said three to four people involved in the accident just got out and ran away from the scene. The people were last seen heading west bound on a unknown street to the right of the accident. 

At 10:18 a.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a suspicious person near the calle Frontera and Avenida Pico intersection. There were high school students toilet-papering the hillside behind the Albertson’s grocery store next to the high school. This is a common occurrence near the end of the school year. 

At 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported a suspicious person near the cross streets of south El Camino Real and Avenida Magdalena. The report said there were subjects on the roof of the old Coco’s restaurant breaking bottles. There was no report of an  arrest. 

At 1:31 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 1800 block of Calle De Los Alamos. There were high school students hanging over the Leslie Park fence. The caller was worried the kids would fall off the cliff and land on the beach trail. 

At 10:04 p.m. Tuesday, a 22-year-old man was arrested in the 200 block of Avenida Pelayo. The man was shooting a BB gun at birds and the BB’s were almost hitting the informants dog. The man was taken into custody and there was no posted bail amount.
