CRIME REPORTS: Man Sits on Wife, Attempted Arson

These are various reports taken from the San Clemente Police Services dispatch log over the past few days.

At 1:06 a.m. Tuesday, a caller reported an assault in the 600 block of Camino De Los Mares. Police were at the San Clemente Hospital to investigate a woman who was reportedly assaulted by her husband in San Clemente. 

At 12:06 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested a 48-year-old-man in the 500 block of Calle Malaguena. According to the report, the man had been drinking and was trying to sit on his wife while they were in bed. He was taken into custody and bail was set for $50,000. 

At 10:17 p.m. Monday, police arrested a 34-year-old-man near the South Ola Vista and Avenida De La Riviera intersection. Police were attempting to do a bike stop on the subject and possibly had him at gunpoint. The man was extremely intoxicated and firefighters were dispatched because the subject was breathing but unresponsive. The man was taken San Clemente Hospital and is currently in custody. There was no posted bail amount.

At 9:22 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 600 block of Avenida Victoria. The informant saw two subjects in a fist fight near the Pier Market. One of the subjects took off heading north on Victoria in a black coupe. 

At 5:14 p.m. Monday, police assisted firefighters in the 100 block of La Ronda. A subject reportedly attempted to light a neighbors bamboo area on fire behind their residence. The neighbor was able to put the fire out and firefighters were en route.

At 8:10 a.m. Monday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 300 block of Avenida Palizada. The informants ex-boyfriend reportedly kicked in her front door and was in violation of a restraining order. The subject took off in a red Dodge Durango. 

At 5:37 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance in the 200 block of Calle De Los Alamos. According to the report, the informant saw an expensive fishing yacht drop off two paddle boards with five people on them, and paddled straight to shore. The informant suspected they were illegal immigrants and requested a patrol of the beach.

At 4:26 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious person near the South El Camino Real and Avenida Rosa intersection. Five male minors and one female were seen drinking, smoking, and urinating next to a silver Honda Civic in the parking lot.

At 2:53 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a vandalism in progress in the 700 block of Avenida Salvador. Several subjects were seen tagging utility boxes. They were driving a white truck and a silver SUV.

At 6:58 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a drunk in public in the 1800 block of El Camino Real. According to the report, a man in his 30’s was urinating in the bushes of the San Clemente Motel and then passed out in the laundry room.
