CRIME REPORTS: Boozing Minors and Cough Syrup Binge

These are various reports from the San Clemente Police Services dispatch services log over the past few days.

At 6:06 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 100 block of Avenida Presidio. The informant reportedly saw a bearded man drinking alcohol and peeping into car windows. 

At 5:06 p.m. Monday, police were called to keep the peace in the first block of Calle Angelitos. The informant was extremely upset because his wife was refusing to give him his car keys. Police were warned about the possibly of some swords in the house. 

At 3:05 p.m. Monday, police arrested a 25-year-old man near the Avenida Del Mar and Alameda Lane intersection. Police pulled the man over near the Pier’s lower parking lot and discovered he was in possession of narcotics and had been drinking. He was taken into custody and bail was set for $20,000.

At 1:20 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a suspicious person near the Avenida Madrid and Ola Vista intersection. According to the report, a man was seen digging around in people's trash cans and was looking at residents personal papers. 

At 8:02 a.m. Monday, a caller reported a suspicious person in a vehicle in the 1200 block of Calle Sarmentoso. The informant reported a man who has been seen everyday watching kids on the playground near Truman Benedict Elementary.

At 8:17 p.m. Sunday, police arrested a 32-year-old man for a hit-and-run in the 200 block of Avenida Palizada. The man appeared to be intoxicated, and police discovered there was a previous warrant out for the subject. He was taken into custody and has since been released. 

At 5:58 p.m. Sunday, police conducted a welfare check in the 200 block of Mariposa. According to the report, a woman in her mid 20’s wearing Ugg Boots and sweatpants was seen stumbling around and siting on the curb of an empty lot. Police consulted the woman, and she reportedly drank a bunch of cough syrup.

At 4:59 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a weapon being brandished in the 400 block of Avenida Magdalena. Two subjects were detained by police for pointing a gun at their neighbor. It was unclear if the weapon was real or just an air gun but police reported this as a possible hate crime. 

At 11:17 p.m. Saturday, police assisted an outside agency in the 400 block of Arenoso Lane. Police assisted firefighters with a trash can that was set on fire by three men and the end of Arenoso Lane. The informant later saw the men near Linda Lane park. 

At 10:16 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a disturbance from the first block of Via Onda. According to the report, there was a loud party with lots of minors drinking alcohol.
